No matter how this season ends, Red Sox Nation will remember it for falling short of expectations. After an electric 2018 campaign, few would have imagined the mediocre march of this year’s team. A good time, then, to think about the warm Florida spring and the fresh start of a new season.
The Red Sox released the 2020 Spring Training plan today, which begins Friday, February 21 at JetBlue Park at Fenway South in Lee County. The slate starts with the traditional matchup against the Northeastern University Huskies and then begins in earnest the next day against the Tampa Bay Rays. In all, the Sox will play 18 games at home and 17 more on the road.
2020 will be the Red Sox’ ninth season at JetBlue Park. If you have not yet made the visit (and even if you have), it’s definitely worth the trip. The park is beautiful, the staff of mostly retirees is incredibly friendly, and a late February day under the Florida sunshine and blue skies is often just what the doctor ordered after a cold, gray winter.
Here’s the full calendar. Game times and ticketing information will be announced at a later date.
