Thanks for visiting RSNStats.com. This web site is an adjunct to the main purpose of RSNStats™, which is to provide stats and other notes for Red Sox Nation. On this page, RSNStats.com means this website; @RSNStats means the Twitter account. RSNStats by itself it means either this web site, the Twitter account, the Facebook page, or the Instragram site.
@RSNStats began in 2012 and that’s where you will still find the vast majority of RSNStats content, particularly during the Major League Baseball season. As I mentioned elsewhere, you’d never have convinced me, years ago, that baseball with Twitter would be better than without it, but I was wrong. The Red Sox community on Twitter can make the games even more enjoyable.
What happens on @RSNStats
For example, if your favorite player is at bat with the bases loaded, there’s a pretty good chance you’ll find his bases loaded stats on @RSNStats. You might even see his record with the bases loaded in night games at Fenway Park against the Yankees with 2 outs and a lefty on the mound, if that’s the current situation. It’s not uncommon to see dozens of stats like this throughout the course of the game.
In addition, the RSNStats data feed includes biographical information, charts, tables and diagrams, along with other notes of interest. To spotlight some particularly noteworthy stats, such as new all-time records, look for tweets that begin with a gold star ⭐️.

Between games and during the offseason these three RSNStats “channels” operate at a much less frantic pace, providing news and links that will be of interest to Red Sox Nation. Followers also get links to original long form content posted here on RSNStats.com.
Some things to know about @RSNStats on Twitter
Here are a few additional notes about the RSNStats accounts on Twitter:
- Unless otherwise noted, all stats are for regular season games.
- Your retweets of RSNStats content are greatly appreciated. They help spread the word to other Red Sox fans.
- I really value the camaraderie of Twitter amongst baseball fans and Red Sox fans in particular. Even when discussing the opposing team—and even <gasp!> the Yankees—I strive for a civil discussion. Over many seasons of @RSNStats, I’ve rarely fielded a rude comment and hope to keep it that way.
- That said, I am a partisan. I want the Red Sox to win. The content on RSNStats is not always “fair and balanced.”
- Stats posted on RSNStats come from a wide variety of sources, both online and in print, some publicly available, others not. Many are culled from Baseball-Reference.com, an outstanding resource. You can explore and support Baseball-Reference.com in-depth with a subscription of your own, which I highly recommend. A lot of time has gone into developing proprietary processes and technology to make these stats available to @RSNStats followers when the game situation is just right.
- For the most part, @RSNStats to meant to be accessible to all fans, not just hardcore statheads. As a result, I try not to abbreviate too much on @RSNStats, though because tweets are limited in size some abbreviations cannot be avoided. Most tweets are written to stand alone, though on occasion some will spread over a series of tweets, each ended with an ellipsis (“…”) until the final one ends with a period. Occasionally, some tweet sequences will be numbered to make them easier to follow.
- The @RSNStats feed is not available for every game. The entire RSNStats franchise is a fun avocation, not a full-time profession. Despite a genuine love of the game, sometimes there are better things to do that watch baseball.
- In-game requests for stats, particularly from @RSNStats supporters, are encouraged. You can also send email stats requests to requests -at- RSNStats.com. Please direct general comments or suggestions to info -at- RSNStats.com. Particularly during the game I can’t guarantee a response and given the pace of the game, I won’t typically get involved with a back and forth conversation. This web site, on the other hand, is a great place to start a discussion.
- Not everything about @RSNStats is cold, hard stats. I also spend time in the offseason researching the game’s history, players, and officials. This material comes from a wide range of sources, including the excellent Society for American Baseball Research, of which I am a proud member. I’ll liberally salt the data feed with this research, particularly late in the game or when action is light or during a blowout. For example, if the player at the plate or an umpire at first base has an interesting back story, it could become part of the feed.
- The @RSNStats account doesn’t follow many other Twitter users. That’s not being arrogant or mean spirited, as one tweeter once accused; it’s just the way it is.
- My personal Twitter account is @rdelrossi. There you’ll find tweets on my other interests, such as art, food, business, technology, history, and music. If we share similar interests, check me out there. I’m happy to follow you from that account.
